Security awareness training

Security awareness training on the Gold Coast

Your team is the first target in most cyber attacks. Phishing, email compromise and social engineering all rely on someone clicking, replying or trusting the wrong thing. We run phishing simulations and security training through Huntress, included in every managed service plan.

Set-and-forget training doesn’t change behaviour

Business owners often tell us their last provider’s security training was a link to an online course. No context, no reason it mattered and no way to know if anyone finished it. Some staff said the links looked so much like phishing that they were afraid to click them.

Nobody had explained the Privacy Act, what directors are responsible for or what happens after a breach. That kind of training ticks a box. Real security awareness is active, simulated and measured, and backed by a team that explains why it matters.

Managed security awareness through Huntress

We deliver training through the Huntress platform, the same provider that runs the 24/7 SOC and endpoint detection we manage. We don’t switch it on and walk away. Our team sets up the campaigns, reviews the results, helps the people who need it and reports to leadership on your overall risk.

Simulations

Phishing simulations

Realistic phishing emails sent to your team on a regular schedule, based on current attacks: QR code phishing, fake Microsoft sign-in pages, invoice fraud and AI-written messages. Anyone who clicks goes straight to short training on what they missed.

  • Current attack templates
  • Training on click

Training

Short training modules

Focused courses on spotting phishing, passwords, safe browsing, social engineering and reporting anything suspicious. Courses are assigned from simulation results, so the people who need more help get more training.

  • Assigned automatically
  • Online, any location

Risk scores

A risk score for every user

Each person gets a score from their simulation results, training completion and click behaviour over time. Leadership can see which teams or people carry the most risk and where to focus.

  • Per-user scores
  • Team view

Reporting

Reports for management

Regular reports on campaign results, click rates, training completion and risk trends. They show due diligence for insurance renewals, compliance audits and board reporting.

Evidence for audits and insurers

Awareness training is a control in ISO 27001 (Annex A 6.3), and cyber insurers increasingly ask for it. The training records give you the evidence for audits and renewals.

The attacks that get past technical controls

These attacks start with a person, not a software flaw. Our phishing simulations are built to prepare your team for each of them.

Invoice fraud

The Australian Cyber Security Centre describes invoice fraud where criminals take over a supplier’s mailbox, edit the bank details on real invoices and send them on. Attackers often add hidden forwarding rules to keep watching the conversation after the password is changed. A phone call to a number you already know, before paying new bank details, stops it.

Fake sign-in pages that get past multi-factor sign-in

A phishing email sends the user to a convincing Microsoft 365 sign-in page. They enter their password and multi-factor code, and the attacker uses both to get into the real account. We saw this with an Evilginx attack the Huntress SOC flagged.

QR code phishing

Attackers put QR codes in emails or printed material. Scanning the code with a phone skips the email security on the computer, and opens a fake sign-in page on a device with no business protections.

Our simulations copy these patterns so your team learns to spot them before they meet the real thing. Over time, fewer people click, more people report and your business builds real resilience, not just a compliance checkbox.

Security awareness training is not an add-on

Every GCIT managed service plan includes phishing simulations, training modules and reporting. You don’t buy it separately. Training works best as one layer among several, alongside endpoint protection, email security, identity management and incident response.

If someone clicks a simulation, they get training straight away. If someone clicks a real phishing email, our managed cybersecurity stack is there to catch it.

When a real phishing email gets through

  1. 1

    Huntress detects the compromise.

  2. 2

Conditional Access blocks the unusual sign-in.

  3. 3

Our team fixes the account and checks what was accessed.

Security awareness training questions

We use Huntress Security Awareness Training. It is the same platform behind the 24/7 SOC and endpoint detection we manage, so your training, phishing simulations and threat detection are run from one place by one team.

Regularly, usually monthly or quarterly depending on your risk. We vary the campaigns so staff don’t learn to spot a pattern, and base them on current attacks so they stay realistic.

They get short, targeted training straight away that explains what they missed and what to look for next time. There is no public shaming or punishment. The goal is education. People who fail repeatedly get extra training and may be offered a one-on-one session.

Often, yes. Awareness training is a control in ISO 27001 (Annex A 6.3), and cyber insurers increasingly ask for it before they offer cover. The Essential Eight focuses on technical controls, and trained staff support them. Our reporting gives you the evidence for audits and renewals.

Yes. Security awareness training is included in every GCIT managed service plan. It is not an add-on or an extra cost. Phishing simulations, training modules, user risk scores and management reports are all part of the service.

Yes. The training runs online through the Huntress platform. We support businesses across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Tweed Heads and Northern NSW.
