Things to consider when migrating from G Suite to Microsoft 365

There are several reasons why you might move from G Suite to Microsoft 365. If you’ve come across this page, you already know why you want to move, but you might not be clear on the how. We’ve performed many G Suite to Microsoft 365 migrations, so perhaps these tips may assist in your migration project.
Plan what needs to move from G Suite to Microsoft 365
Plan your migration. You should be clear on what’ll be moving to Microsoft 365, and what do to with data that stays behind. Some customers prefer an email only migration while others aim to migrate the entire suite, including Google Drive.
Choose a Microsoft Partner, or go it alone
There are a lot of guides and DIY tools available to move your data from one system to another. We’d prefer you to go with someone like us, but if you’ve got a solid understanding of the systems involved, then there is no reason why you can’t make it happen by yourself. On the other hand, you may want to engage a partner to help out. Microsoft Partners like GCITS are uniquely positioned to assist with migrating your business as they have access to internal Microsoft resources and the experience to complete the migration project without issues.
Keep everyone up to date
Communicate your timelines to all stakeholders. We recommend defining your migration dates based on the scope of the project and the size of the data to move.
Before you start the migration project, you should advise the team of any critical dates as email may not be available.
If this is your first migration project, we recommend padding the estimation by 50-75% to account for any hiccups during the migration process.
