Built by Gold Coast IT locals,
for Gold Coast businesses.

GCIT was founded in 2015 by three brothers, spinning off the managed services work from the IT business their parents started on the Gold Coast in the 1990s.

Before GCIT, James and Elliot had each been running Gold Coast IT businesses as sole traders for more than a decade, building the Microsoft expertise and customer relationships that still shape how GCIT works today. Forming GCIT was a way to focus that experience on one thing: proactive managed IT and cybersecurity for Gold Coast businesses who are serious about getting it right.

Ten years later, GCIT supports more than 300 Gold Coast, Brisbane and Tweed businesses. We’ve grown from sole traders into a full team of engineers, security specialists and automation developers, and we were the first Gold Coast-based MSP certified to ISO 27001, 9001 and 14001. Still the same Gold Coast family, still the same focus on doing great work for businesses that are serious about technology, security and growth.

Four principles that shape every decision

We’re not big on mission statements, but these are the things that actually change how we deliver IT and cybersecurity for our customers.

01 – Security first

Security is not an add-on.
It’s baked in from day one.

Every system we deploy starts from a secure baseline. Every customer has MFA, conditional access, endpoint protection, and monitored backups from the first day we onboard them. You don’t get to opt out of security with us, because we don’t want you to be the next news headline.

02 – Plain English

No jargon. Ever.

We explain technology the way a good doctor explains health: clearly, honestly, and in terms you can act on. If you feel confused after talking to us, we’ve done it wrong.

03 – No scare tactics

No fear. Just facts.

We will never try to sell you security with fear. Real risks get called out with real data, and we’ll always show you the evidence behind our recommendations.

04 – Automate everything we can

Humans do judgment. Robots do repetition.

We’ve written over 1,300 custom PowerShell scripts and automations across our managed environments. That’s not a boast, it’s the reason our engineers spend their time on the work that actually matters to you.

More than just the office next door

The Gold Coast is home to more than 1,700 species of native plants and hundreds of animal species: koalas, humpback whales, green sea turtles. Protecting that takes conscious effort. ISO 14001 certification was one step. Getting out of the office regularly is another.

🌱 Currumbin Wildlife Hospital

Feeding koalas, planting trees, cleaning up beaches.

We’ve long supported environmental initiatives in our community, including volunteering with Currumbin Wildlife Hospital to help feed, protect and rehabilitate local wildlife, and joining Clean Up Australia efforts to reduce waste and pollution along the coast.

For us, sustainability isn’t just about reducing energy bills and IT consumables. It’s about making sure future generations get to enjoy the same incredible natural beauty we do. Currumbin Wildlife Hospital is the busiest wildlife hospital in the world, and they need all the hands they can get.

Winner: 2025 IT & Digital Business Award

In May 2025, GCIT was named winner of the IT & Digital Business category at the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards. Our submission highlighted not just the tech (triple ISO certification, Microsoft Secure Scores nearly twice the global average, custom automation) but also our community impact: discounted services for not-for-profits, our Currumbin partnership, and Clean Up Australia Day.

The Australian Firefighters Calendar

We share our building with the team behind the iconic Australian Firefighters Calendar. Since 1993, their calendars have raised millions for Australian charities, including Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, the Children’s Hospital Foundation, and dozens of grassroots causes.

When they offered to bring firefighters, labradors, chickens and a few kittens into our office to help us make a cybersecurity video, we obviously said yes.

Also recognised with the Global Social Impact Award at Pax8 Beyond, Denver, for our people-first, automation-driven approach to IT services and corporate social responsibility.

“GCIT customers consistently value speed and responsiveness most. Lots of comments about issues being sorted fast, often on short notice, and with minimal fuss.”

“A close second is the human side of the service. Reviewers repeatedly mention staff being friendly, easy to deal with, and genuinely helpful, keeping people updated, explaining what’s happening, and being patient with non-technical customers.”

“It’s not about having the most skilled individuals. It’s about service delivery.”

While it’s easy to say “Oh, it’s all about our expert team”, we don’t think that’s the whole story. GCIT is built around a highly skilled team, but having a team of high performing individual technicians will only get you so far.

That’s why we place a heavy focus on documented processes, strict SLAs (internally and customer-facing), and a culture of accountability where our techs own the outcome, even when escalating or dealing with third-party vendors.

A lot of this accountability comes from our transparency. We make our live response and resolution times public, so you don’t have to take our word for it.

Questions about GCIT

The things people most often want to know before working with us.

How long has GCIT been in business?+

GCIT was founded in 2015 by brothers James and Elliot Munro, who had each been running Gold Coast IT businesses as sole traders for more than a decade before that. Our founders have been working in Microsoft technology since 2002, when Elliot received his first Microsoft Certified Partner accreditation.

What does GCIT actually do?+

We help businesses run smoothly, stay secure, and plan for the future by managing their IT, cybersecurity and AI & automation. As a managed service provider (MSP), we take a proactive approach, focusing on reliability, security, and long-term strategy rather than waiting for things to break.

Where are you based?+

Our headquarters is at 1/16 Dover Drive, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220. We primarily serve businesses across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Tweed regions, with remote support available Australia-wide.

Do you work with businesses of our size?+

We work with small to mid-sized businesses that want dependable IT and cybersecurity without the overhead of managing it internally. GCIT’s services are available to companies with 10 or more employees.

What certifications does GCIT hold?+

GCIT is ISO 27001 (Information Security), ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) certified. We’re a Microsoft Solutions Partner for Modern Work, an accredited TAFEcyber Essential Eight Assessor, and our engineers hold individual Microsoft certifications across security, compliance, identity, and the Microsoft 365 stack.

What makes GCIT different from other IT providers?+

Our Head of Operations, Ryan Colombo, puts it down to service delivery. We place a heavy focus on documented processes, strict SLAs, and a culture of accountability where our techs own the outcome, even when escalating or dealing with third-party vendors. We also make our live response and resolution times public, so you don’t have to take our word for it.

Who owns GCIT?+

GCIT is privately owned and operated by co-founders James and Elliot Munro. We’re not part of a larger MSP roll-up and we’re not backed by private equity. We’re a Gold Coast business owned by Gold Coast locals.
